I find that one of the most stressful things for clients that are having their family photos done is deciding what to wear! After all, these memories will become a staple in your family frames and albums for years to come so I can understand the pressure.
While families need to take their own personal style into consideration, choosing timeless, yet appropriate attire will likely lend to the most positive outcome for your photo shoot.

Here are a few things to think about when you are choosing what to wear:
Do's
• Think about an overlapping colour scheme when choosing each outfit
• Think about your home décor when choosing outfits – you will likely be hanging the photos in your house so thinking about what will look good in your space can be helpful in choosing a colour scheme.
• For indoor sessions choose soft, warm colours
• Outdoors, you can opt for bolder colours, earth tones or contrasting, such as big stripes paired with a solid colour
• Dress for the weather – there is nothing worse than being too hot or too cold for photos. I guarantee it impacts the quality and quantity of the images I am able to capture.
Don'ts
• Being too "matchy matchy"
• Pinstripes or small dots –these generally do not photograph well
• Clothing with large logos
• Accessories that are too big as they may overshadow your face
• Leaving the decision of what to wear until the last minute – it is much less stressful to plan ahead so that you know what everyone is going to wear and you know 100% that it is clean and still fits (those kiddos grow faster than you think!)
In the end you need to pick something that you feel comfortable in and want to see yourself in for years to come!
