When one of my closest friends Michele reached out to me and said her mother in law wanted to do an extended family session out at the lake I was so excited. Their family has a gorgeous cottage out on Pasqua Lake that I have been lucky enough to enjoy a few times over the last few summers. I knew the lake would be a perfect backdrop to capture their family in a place they all love so much.
We decided to do the photos in the evening at golden hour. In photography golden hour is the hour right before sunset or right after sunrise where the lighting is softer and warmer than when the sun is higher in the sky throughout the day. For photographers this time of day is also known as magic hour, as the light at this time is unlike anything else and results in beautiful images. The only risk when working with golden hour is the impending deadline, which can sometimes be a challenge with larger groups and small children. For this session we were really living on the edge as we had an hour drive out to the lake before we could even get started! Luckily the Murray Family rocked their session and we were able to capture many images I hope that they will treasure for the years to come.
It is always a pleasure working with families, small and large, to capture the love they have for one another. It is even more of a treat for me to work with repeat clients and watch their families grow. It is remarkable to see them change over the years as their little ones sprout!
