I had the pleasure of meeting Kathryn five years ago as part of my Executive MBA program and have loved getting to know the whole family in the years since! Kathryn and Richie are the type of people you can't help but enjoy yourself when they around.
I first had the opportunity to capture their family when I launched Purple Elephant Photography. I looked back at those images before the session and I almost couldn't believe how much Max and Ben have grown since then! It sure goes to show how important it is to capture these memories while you can. They might have had a few growth spurts since our session!
When we first talked about doing family photos Kathryn asked if we could do them out at their place which I immediately thought that was a great idea. They have a beautiful space and I think there is something so uniquely special about capturing images of families at their home. As I drove out to the farm the weather couldn't seem to make up its mind (surprising in Saskatchewan right?!) but shortly after I arrived the rain stopped.
The location and the light out at the farm was hard to beat! If you love the soft warm lighting a golden hour session is a must. Golden hour is the hour or so before the sun sets or shortly after sunrise.......although who is up early enough to see that!
There is something so special about capturing memories for a family through photography. I only hope these images bring this amazing family as much joy as taking them has brought me.
